| Research |
|
•Our laboratory has been mainly focusing on (i) enzyme mechanistic and structural studies and drug discovery. The working targets include undecaprenyl pyrophosphate synthase, octaprenyl pyrophosphate synthase, geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate synthase; 3C proteases from SARS coronavirus, enterovirus 71, coxsackie virus; H5N1 from avian flu virus. (ii) Cell apoptosis mechanism and anti-cancer drug development. (iii) biopolymer synthesis and degradation enzymes including rubber prenyltransferase, hyaluronan synthase. endo, exo-, and beta-glucosidases for cellulose degradation and biofuel production. (iv) anti-bacterial and endotoxin binding proteins and their biotech applications.
